Word of the Day
Green Shoe Option
It is a provision in an IPO that allows a company to sell extra shares than initially planned
The underwriters, who handle the IPO process, are allowed to issue additional shares – usually 15% more than than the original number.
This is done to maintain a stable stock price, if the demand is more than expected.
If demand is strong, underwriters sell more shares to meet it. If the price falls, they can buy back the shares to stabilize the price.
6 Day Course
Theme: rebalancing
Day 1: Monday
One of the least discussed topics in personal finance is rebalancing.
In personal finance, it is recommended that investors have a balanced portfolio.
Eg. 60% in equity MF, 30% in fixed income like FD, 10% in gold, etc.
These percentages can be different for different people.
But since some investments grow faster than others, these percentages change over time. Rebalancing means moving money from one asset to the other to ensure the percentages are as the investor originally targeted.
It involves many factors like frequency of rebalancing, taxes, etc.
We explored the question “What if I invest in every new NFO?”
