Word of the Day
Ticket Size
It is the size of a transaction, usually spoken in the context of investment
Most mutual funds have a minimum investment amount of Rs 500. So we can say the minimum ticket size of most mutual fund investments is Rs 500.
In case of a certain real estate project, the minimum price of a flat in it might be Rs 1.2 cr. So the minimum ticket size in that project can be said to be Rs 1.2 cr.
Sometimes people use average ticket size to determine the average invested value (which would be higher than the minimum ticket size).
6 Day Course
Theme: things investors should ignore
Day 5: Friday
Many investors pay a lot of attention to the dividend yield of companies.
This can be a good strategy for investors who are exclusively investing in dividend stocks.
But dividend paying stocks aren’t inherently better. Many companies’ profits are reinvested back in the company. They do not pay any dividends.
Such companies’ gains reflect directly in the share price instead of dividend payment.
So when hunting for good businesses, dividend yield can be an irrelevant metric.
Precision: any investment advice or suggestion that predicts anything very precisely is ignorable since such precision cannot be achieved.
Investors should work with ranges instead of precise values.

Featured Question
Q. “Can I buy ETF on NSE and sell on BSE in same day (i.e. intraday trading). Is it allowed?”
Technically speaking, you cannot buy on one and sell the same ETF units on another exchange.
It takes T+1 day for the ETF units to be delivered to your demat account.
You can only sell the units on another exchange once you have the units in your demat account.
You can sell intraday on the same exchange because each exchange’s clearing is done individually.
