Word of the Day
Benchmark Index
It is a group of stocks that represents the performance of the overall market or a specific sector
Investors use it as a reference point to compare how their investments are performing.
If the returns are higher than the benchmark, the investment has outperformed the market and if lower, the market has done better.
Example: Nifty 50 is a benchmark index for the Indian stock market. Nifty Bank is a benchmark index for the banking sector.
6 Day Course
Theme: AI terms for investors
Day 1: Monday
Another concept we have to understand is of tokens. It is the currency of the modern LLM chatbots.
To understand easily, think about asking a question to ChatGPT or Gemini.
Each word is treated as a token. Larger words may be broken up into two or more chunks making each chunk a token.
Similarly, the output received from an LLM chatbot is also in the form of tokens that get organised into words and sentences.
The total number of tokens used per question is the input questions + the output answer.
Almost all LLM products use a token system where they charge a certain amount for a fixed number of tokens.
Example: 1 million tokens for $5.
The price of these token packs differ based on the models being used. More advanced models tend to be priced higher.

Q. “Why IT stocks are falling rapidly in last 1 months what is the main reason, is this re-settle again”
The most common reason behind the fall of IT stocks in recent times has been AI-led developments.
Many AI advances in recent times have challenged the business models of these IT companies.
Hence, many investors feel bearish about the sector.
This does not automatically mean that IT stocks will not perform well in the future.
There have been many earlier times when new innovation has threatened the IT sector’s business models.
In the past, many IT companies were able to evolve and adapt.
It remains to be seen if they do something similar this time as well.
