Word of the Day
Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
It is a collaboration between the government and a private company to build and operate public projects
Under a PPP, the government provides support like land, approvals, or partial funding, while private companies bring investment, efficiency, and expertise. They both share responsibilities.
Example: say the government wants to build a highway but lacks some funding. In this case, it can partner with a private company. The company invests money and manages construction, while the government oversees regulations and land acquisitions.
These partnerships are used in areas like roads, airports, hospitals, and infrastructure projects.
The idea is to combine the public sector’s social responsibility with the private sector’s efficiency to deliver better services.
Example: the Delhi and Mumbai airports operate under a PPP model.
6 Day Course
Theme: High-risk high-reward investments
Day 3: Wednesday
We’ve spoken about small/mid cap mutual funds, and individual stocks investments.
Now, let’s talk about companies that are not on the share markets.
Many good companies’ best growth happens very early in their life cycle.
Often, these companies’ shares are not listed or available on the exchanges at this stage.
Investors who invest at these stages are able to gain very high returns.
Investment growing by 10x or even 100x happens sometimes.
The downside of these investments is that the chance of loss of the entire investment amount is also very high.
Start-up investment is an example of this kind of investment.
