Word of the Day
Potential Upside
It is the estimated price change by which a stock could grow.
Many investors try to judge how much an asset’s price could grow and the duration required for such a price growth.
Example: “the personal air conditioning space has a potential upside of around 30% over the next 2 years.”
The “potential” in this is that it may happen but it is not guaranteed.
Needless to say, the calculation of potential upside varies from investor to investor.
Different investors can estimate the potential upside to be very different from each other.
6 Day Course
Theme: things investors should ignore
Day 1: Monday
Investors tend to think more information will help them make better decisions.
That said, there are some factors that investors end up paying too much attention to.
Paying less attention to some of those would work out better for them.
In this week’s course, we’ll look at some of these factors.
Day to day minor price movements.
Long term investors have very little to gain from daily price movement changes.
Yes, if something really bad is happening, the price change can be big.
But in all other cases, watching the minor price movement and worrying about them is a useless exercise. It is just noise.

What If
Missing an SIP once in a while can feel like a bigger mistake than it actually is.
You may need the money for some other expense, your salary may come late, or you may simply forget to invest that month.
And then there are times when investors stop for a different reason as well.
But does missing an SIP actually hurt your long-term investment? And does it matter whether the money is never invested or invested a little later?
So we wanted to find that out.
In today’s What If, we tested what happened when investors missed SIPs in different ways.
We checked how much it affected their final corpus, whether missing early hurt more than missing later, and what happened when the missed money was eventually invested.
